This photograph was taken at dawn.

The location was a fishing dock somewhere in Mexico. What the picture doesn’t show is about 100 other fishing boats…big new boats…that were heading off to sea. This particular boat wasn’t though. I think he or she (I don’t know the sex of the boat) was retired. It had seen it days.

The appeal and the beauty in this ship is hidden within its rust and brokenness. I don't know if you can see it, but the left side of the ship is literally leaking water. I couldn’t image the stories that this ship could tell if it were to speak.

I wanted to make this photograph appear as though it might belong in someone’s dreams…or imagination. So I spent some time with the photograph in Photoshop to see if i could design this feeling or emotion.

I think now the photo it is just real enough, but yet tales could still be told about her (I think I just made the ship a her).

If you have some time you should tell someone a tale about her…
